3rd NeoPopRealism Starz International Art Competition WINNERS, Jurors: Nadia Russ and Jo Lance

dance competitions

Reality-TV fans know that dance competitions are where it's at these days, and the Emmys made it clear they've caught on. "Dancing With the Stars" pros Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced to LMFAO's "La La La," and all eyes were glued to the onetime engaged couple as they danced together for the first time since announcing their breakup earlier this month. The dance fever continued as they were joined by "So You Think You Can Dance" champ Joshua Allen and the hip-hop Quest Crew, third-season winners of street-dance competition "America's Best Dance Crew." And to put the cherry on top, the routine was choreographed by "SYTYCD" and "ABDC" hip-hop choreographers Napoleon and Tabitha (NappyTabs to you reality addicts in-the-know).

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon

Funny man Fallon took to the stage wearing a headset fed through Auto-Tune, the modulator of choice for plenty of pop stars and rappers these days. But when trying to get the audience "ready to party," Jimmy fell to the floor, and hearing his overmodulated pleas for help while he writhed around with his tuxedoed butt facing the audience was downright hilarious.

Neil Patrick Harris

61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will go down in history as ... well, actually good.

In addition to Neil's success, the show was especially clever and breezy this time around. Winners walked to the stage during announcements about their favorite hobbies and other trivial facts (courtesy of comedian John Hodgman). Presenters were introduced by references to obscure roles they played years ago ("You probably know Rob Lowe best as the teen dad on the '80s after-school special 'Schoolboy Father' ..."). Even the interviews with directors and writers taped ahead of time were funny and creative.

The bad news for the show's producers? The 2010 show will have a lot to live up to.

Here are just some of the brightest moments from this year's Emmys broadcast:

Neil Patrick Harris, host with the most

The "How I Met Your Mother" star got a little hosting practice earlier this year when he emceed the Tony Awards, but no one could have predicted just how comfortable he'd be at the helm of TV's biggest awards show. During his song-and-dance routine that kicked off the show, he rattled off the name of every network on television, wondered if "Mad Men's" Christina Hendricks could turn a gay man straight, and then flirted with Jon Hamm. Later, he played the ungracious loser after Jon Cryer won the award for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy with snarky congratulations and promises he wouldn't let the show get "awkward." He even brought his own Web character, "Dr. Horrible," to the show with a video promoting the fact that the Internet is making television obsolete. The problem? He was interrupted by a frozen screen and "buffering" messages. Mission accomplished.

Investigation continues - Michael Jackson death

A law-enforcement source close to the increasingly convoluted investigation into Jackson's death. Cardiologist Murray remains the only doctor at the center of the Los Angeles Police Department's manslaughter investigation, despite the interest in any correspondence the doc may have had with 6 other medical professionals who counted Jackson as a patient.

Included on the search warrant served on Murrayy home and offices in LV were records of correspondence between him and Jackson and six other doctors, including rheumatologist A. Metzger and dentist M. Tadrissi. Both have been asked to turn their Jackson files over to the L.A. County Coroner's Office.

Metzger's attorney, H. Braun, said that Jackson once asked his client for propofol—the potent anesthetic authorities believe ultimately caused the singer's death—to help him sleep, but that Metzger refused to provide any.

Obama's states that economy has done better than expected...

The president cited July 31, Commerce Department report showing that in the last few months the economy overall has done "measurably better than expected." Obama credited his $787 billion economic stimulus program for much of that progress.

Obama reminded the nation that full recovery will not happen overnight, but rather will take many more months.

"Even as we rescue this economy, we must work to rebuild it stronger than before," he said. "We've got to build a new foundation strong enough to withstand future economic storms and support lasting prosperity."

Drew Barrymoore

Drew Barrymore is winning acclaim for her work in HBO's "Grey Gardens."

Marvel at her accomplishments, as she's one of the few child stars who've beaten the odds, surviving a shockingly turbulent Hollywood childhood to have an adult career in acting and producing.

People worry that her apparent partying and dating style of late is a toward the doomed life of not-so-successful child stars like Leif Garrett and Danny Bonaduce.

We're rooting for her continued triumph.

Gutar Hero went green

Guitar Hero just went green. At the recent CES convention, Activision announced that sales of Guitar Hero III have surpassed $1 billion, making it the 1st video game to ever reach the stunning ten-figure mark. More astounding is the fact that just one year ago, Activision announced that the Guitar Hero franchise as a whole passed the $1 billion mark, a figure that included every version of the game released since 2005. Having hit stores in the fall of 2007, Guitar Hero III accomplished the feat on its own in well under two years.

Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith believes the news should put other media on alert. He said that movies, recorded music and TV - these are all stagnating or contracting entertainment sectors. Video games are poised to eclipse all other forms of entertainment in the decade ahead.

Besides hitting the gym, he's trying to eat as much as possible. Basically he's supposed to eat everything he can and try to keep it lean. Lean meats and veggies.

Angelina Jolie and Haters

Is it us or does it seem like Brad and Angelina are kinda slackers when it comes to serving as awards show presenters.

Big people like Tom Cruise and Kate Winsler aren't too proud to get up there and hand an award to a peer, so what is up with Brad and Angie?

Please don't tell us it's more of that pedestal polishing they have refined to a fine art.

Whitney Port is joining the world of celebrity

Whitney Port is joining the wonderful world of celebrity just fine. She flashed her breasts, she's blogging. She's one hospital stay away from being the next Lindsay Lohan...

"I'm sorry if they offended anyone but I got too caught up in the sunshine and the weather that I guess I wasn't as cautious as I should have been."

"Everyone knows the rough and tumble of the ocean mixed with a bathing suit—not the most attractive thing ever! So sorry for the view...very embarrassing to say the least! I guess all I can do now is laugh about it and move on!"

Audrina, Heidi and Lauren are not laughing. You think they like having their reality throne usurped? The end is nigh for those three. Heid's so desperate for some attention she went and got herself married. Laur's just about done trying, having given up fake dating for real-dating a nonmodel. Aud'd better "accidentally" have a wardrobe malfunction soon if she wants people to keep yakkin' about her.

Jennifer Garner gave birth to her second daughter

One week ago, Jennifer Garner gave birth to her 2nd daughter with Ben Affleck. The A-list couple, both 36, has announced the baby's name.

Please welcome Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck to the adorable celebuspawn roster.

The Baby Name Wizard defines it as derived from the Hebrew seraphim, a name used in the Bible for the heavenly winged angels surrounding the throne of God.

With her "Big Sister" shirt, Violet, 3, is excited about the addition to her family.

American "Idol" becomes idle

When Jordin Sparks was crowned "American Idol" 6th season champ back in the spring of 2007, we'd never watch the reality wreck again. Why? Let me count the waysBecause: She couldn't belt it out like Kelly Clarkson, she couldn't emote like Fantasia, and she couldn't captivate a crowd like Carrie Underwood.. And she was boring. We are too lazy and addicted to care what anyone thinks of us. "Idol" is our guiltiest pleasure, and we've come to embrace it. Because we're tuning in, doesn't mean that everyone else will join us on January 13 when Season 8 kicks off.

Last season the ratings dipped. Granted, an 8% decline isn't enough of a drop to freak out about, especially when more than 27 million people still tune in, but if the show doesn't deliver early on this year, more and more disgruntled fans might consider flipping the channel. So, what to do when "Idol" becomes idle?

Fergie and her fiance Josh Duhamel

Fergie and her fiance Josh Duhamel head to the Dakota Live Music Lounge in Santa Monica (CA) for their joint bachelor-bachelorette party. They two will wed this week.

Golden Globe Awards. Jolie-Pitt

Golden Globe Awards.

"Same as every morning: chaotic and messy!" Brad Pitt said on the red carpet.

He and Jolie were up for awards - Brad Pitt for his leading dramatic role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Angelina Jolie for her leading dramatic role in Changeling.

"We haven't even talked about it yet," he said.

The two went home empty-handed, they were affectionate throughout the show.
Steven Spielberg was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award...

Jolie (in Atelier Versace) also rubbed Pitt's back, and he kept his arm around her...

Golden Globe, Seacrest and Jolie. Eva Longoria.

On his Padio Show, Ryan Seacrest said out about Angelina Jolie dissing him on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. Seacrest had gotten up next to the actress and beau Brad Pitt, hoping to score an interview on E!'s pre-show. "Hi, guys. Brad? Angelina?" he said. They ignored him.

"I don't think Angelina thinks I'm that important," Ryan said on his show. "I don't think I'm top of mind for them... I honestly don't believe they'd know who I was if I walked over there."

When guest Perez Hilton told Seacrest that that's impossible, as he hosts the No. 1 show American Idol, the TV personality shot back: "Yeah...but they live in France!"

A. Jolie and B. Pitt did stop for NBC's Billy Bush. Seacrest said, "there's an NBC deal there. NBC hosted the Globes, and they have a deal to talk to the people who come to the Globes.

"Here's what I realized when I went down there," Seacrest went on. "I realized quickly that it's against the rules to walk down onto the carpet from the platform.

"Then we went back down there and caught up with Tom Cruise , who I think is a terrific guy. I think he's really cool," he said. "By the way, have you seen his skin tone up close lately? You should!"

Seacrest clashed with Jolie before: At the 2006 Golden Globes, he asked her what she fed her children that day and she icily replied " Cereal we made cereal."

He later called her "cold" for being so unresponsive.

Turns out, Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, was on her death bed at the time.

Jessica Alba Kate Winslet

The night's [Golden Globe] big winner, Kate Winslet, ruled the red carpet in a stunning black strapless Yves St. Laurent gown and Chopard jewels.

Celebrity Gossips Crazy Blog - "Ugly" Departure

The one of Ugly Betty's main castmembers has asked to leave the ABC series. Producers are now planning to write her out (toward the end of this season). Another character is going to be killed off this season.

According to sources connected to the series, Ashley Jensen, who plays Betty's BFF Christina and is also well-known Extras fans, is the series regular who is expected to leave Ugly Betty this season.

Ashley asked to be released from her contract. The show's representative said that ABC does not comment on actors' contracts.

According to a source who works on the show, Ashley is not expected back as a series regular for Betty's 4th season in the fall. She's currently knocked up with Wilhelmina's spawn in order to get money to help save her husband's life. And anything is possible on this show.

As for the 2nd character who will be killed off, it's someone who just came on board this season. And no, despite the photo above it is not Judith Light...
